I have a wealth of experience working with individuals to support them as they encounter new roles, challenges and ways of working. In particular, I help leaders find the space to think and to deepen their understanding of themselves and their motivation for action.

Understanding what drives behaviour is the key to unlocking an individual’s greatest potential. I use dialogue and ‘Structural Dynamics’ – a theory of communication which helps to name behavioural preferences –  to draw attention to the choices someone makes by bringing their unconscious patterns of behaviour into the conscious. This allows individuals to reflect and make real choices about how they operate and interact.

I am a specialist in working with most the engrained, stuck behaviours and I have collaborated with Dialogix in the design of an intensive Childhood Story Coaching programme which is delivered to leaders around the world.  Working with Sarah Hill, the author of ‘Where Did You Learn to Behave Like That?‘, I have become adept at helping people understand and change the behaviours that they tend to exhibit when under pressure. It is then that people need to be most in command of themselves, yet they often find themselves responding in a way where it is apparent that ‘the child’ has entered the room and, despite their best intentions, the outcome of their interaction is rarely positive. The processes we have designed can also be used to support individuals with problematic relationships which are impacting upon individual and organisational effectiveness. In particular, I have developed a unique process for engaging ‘corporate pairs’ to help them resolve their dysfunctional communication patterns. A ‘corporate pair’ refers to two individuals whose relationship is key to the success of the organisation but has fractured to the point, or near to the point, of breakdown.

Throughout my coaching I also draw on a wide range of other techniques and philosophies that I have trained in, including personality profiling, gestalt, transactional analysis, neuro-linguistic programming, psychodynamics and brief therapy.

My approach has, in the past, also included developing coaches from within an organisation with a view to cultivating a sustainable coaching culture.
